Types of Interior Moulding

Deciding which coving style to use for interior rooms within your home can be difficult because there are so many varieties available! To narrow down your options, you should consider your priorities as this will help you achieve an end result best suited to both you, and your home. Whether you want coving that matches the period of your home or the décor within the room or you want coving that stands out as a feature, or you simply need it to hide imperfections... Featherlite Moulding has a large range available to suit all requirements. They even offer a design service where a custom profile can be made especially for you. Below is a guide to the types of interior moulding on offer.

1. 2-PART COVING
This style stands away from both the wall and ceiling; to create an expressed junction using two pieces of connected coving material (rather than a single length). Two-part coving allows for more flexibility when it comes to the angle of the coving, and its solid carpentry joints make it a sturdy feature.

2. LIGHTING COVING
A great aspect of coving is that it is the perfect place to hold recessed lights; to create a subtle lighting effect within the room...
• Above light coving has built-in lights on top of the coving; which allows for the dispersion of light upwards to softly illuminate the ceiling.
• Downlight coving has lights built into the base of the coving; so, the light is projected downwards to illuminate surfaces below.
• Mid lighting coving has lights recessed into the centre of the coving. The purpose of this is to illuminate the coving itself; so that it becomes a highlighted feature within the room.

3. CLASSIC COVING
If you are choosing coving for a classical home; traditional coving types can be a great asset because they enhance the classic style within the interior spaces. Our classic styles are ornate and decorative and will bring any room to life.

4. COVER COVINGS
If your interior has old coving that needs replacing, but you don't want to go through the lengthy and inconvenient process of removing it: we offer cover coving which is the perfect solution. Cover coving is fitted on top of old coving; so, you benefit from a new and improved finish in a quick and easy way! Our cover coving leaves no unwanted mess and comes in two styles to suit any home.

5. MODERN COVING
Whilst most people view coving as a traditional home feature, we have pushed this boundary by creating sleek, modern styles of coving for non-classical interiors. Whether you want a drastic modern feature or want to simply create a smoother connection between wall and ceiling, we have you covered. Ranging from simple smooth faces, to squared stepping designs, our modern range is a perfect option.

6. STANDARD COVING
For a simpler look, our standard coving range provides you with designs that fit seamlessly with any interior. It includes a generic mixture of traditional or modern styles to choose from. If you are replacing a section of old coving within your home, then you are likely to find a coving style that matches within our standard range.

7. WALL/CEILING COVING
Wall covings primarily cover wall surface rather than ceiling surface: as the drop distance is much greater than the length that attaches to the ceiling. In contrast, if you flip this coving style around, then you get ceiling coving; which primarily covers ceiling surface rather than wall surface. Both styles create different effects in a room, so it is really down to your own preference.

8. COFFER CEILING
Coffer ceiling coving stretches across the entire ceiling surface, in a series of grids. It creates a geometric pattern which can be a beautiful and dramatic addition to any interior room.

9. CUSTOM COVING
If you can't find the coving you need or want in our range simply send a sketch or a photo of the profile of the coving you are looking for, and our designers will create a design for you.
